When Hitler Stole the Pink Rabbit by Judith Kerr

I Have really enjoyed this book. This book is a very famous book written by a very famous writer. When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit is no ordinary second world war story. Instead of making you cry, it makes you howl with laughter. No matter what is happening in this story, it will keep you entertained. The story is told through a series of very funny events, whether it's escaping on the midnight train to Switzerland, or learning French from scratch. This has a very different theme to other second world war stories, but it's one of those stories that you can read again and again. Judith Kerr has taken a very serious theme, yet lightened it up with skill. But no matter what, by the end of the book, you will definitely want to be Anna's new best friend.

Percy Jackson

Percy Jackson-The books

Percy Jackson and the lightning thief (1)
Look, I didn’t want to be a half-blood. I never asked to be the son of a Greek god. I was just a normal kid, going to school, playing basketball, skateboarding. The usual. Until I accidentally vaporized my maths teacher. Now I spend my time battling monsters and generally trying to stay alive. This is the one where Zeus, God of the Sky, thinks I’ve stolen his lightning bolt – and making Zeus angry is a very bad idea.
Percy Jackson and the sea of monsters (2)
Percy Jackson’s seventh-grade year has been surprisingly quiet. Not a single monster has set foot on his New York prep-school campus. But when an innocent game of dodgeball among Percy and his classmates turns into a death match against an ugly gang of cannibal giants, things get…well, ugly. And the unexpected arrival of his friend Annabeth brings more bad news: the magical borders that protect Camp Half-Blood have been poisoned by a mysterious enemy, and unless a cure is found, the only safe haven for demigods will be destroyed. In this funny and popular second Percy Jackson he and his friends must journey to the Sea of Monsters to save camp. But first Percy will discover a secret about his family- one that makes him think if being a son of Poseidon is an honour or simply a cruel joke.
Percy Jackson and the titans curse (3)
It's not every day you find yourself in hand-to-claw combat with a half-lion half-human. But when you're the son of a Greek god, these things happen. All I was trying to do was bring two new demigods back to camp. But the arrival of the manticore changed everything. Now my friend Annabeth is missing, a goddess is in chains and the general of the Titans wants to unleash a tribe of skeleton warriors on the world. This is the one where only fiveof us heroes can join the dangerous quest to defeat the doomsday monster - and our camp's Oracle has predicted that not all of the chosen five will survive... Can Percy save Annabeth - and the rest of the world - before the curse destroys him forever?

Percy Jackson and the battle of the labyrinth (4)
Honestly, blowing up another schoolwas the last thing I wanted to do. As the son of a Greek god, I've had my share of near-death disaster. This summer, I didn't choose to battle the cheerleading squad, but when two hissing she-devils with fangs are heading straight for you, what's a half-blood meant to do? That was just the beginning. This is the one where my arch-enemy, Luke, is looking for a way to invade our camp via an ancient labyrinth. If he succeeds, thousands of bloodthirsty monsters will attack. So it's goodbye sunshine, hello darkness as four of us decend into the terifying underground and beyond... Can Percy navigate his way out of trouble - before Luke's army bring mass destruction to camp half-blood?

Percy Jackson and the last olympian (5)
All year the half-bloods have been preparing for battle against the Titans, knowing the odds of victory are grim. Kronos’s army is stronger than ever, and with every god and half-blood he recruits, the evil Titan’s power only grows. While the Olympians struggle to contain the rampaging monster Typhon, Kronos begins his advance on New York City, where Mount Olympus stands virtually unguarded. Now it’s up to Percy Jackson and army of young demigods to stop the Lord of Time.

The Child's Elephant and Awful Auntie

Over the holidays one of the books I read was this book. The Childs Elephant. This book was nominated for the 2014 Carnegie book awards. Although it didn't win, (The Bunker Diary by Kevin Brooks did in fact, for more information click here) I thought that it was a great book well worthy of winning the award.  The blurb of the book says. When a baby elephant is left orphaned on the African savannah, Bat, a young herdsboy, takes her home and cares for her. But Bat's grandmother knows that Meya cannot stay with them for ever - the call of the wild will always be sounding in her soul.
And there are rumours borne on the wind; frightening stories of kidnapping and suffering and war. Bat and his closest friend, Muka, are catapulted into a new life of unimaginable terror. Now memories of their village world feel so far away. Will the bond between elephant and child remain strong enough to save them?
A thrilling new novel which tells a heartbreakingly life-like tale.

And I must say that I agree. The book has a slow pace but if you push yourself and keep on reading you will see that you are rewarded. This is a touching and exciting book which leaves you wanting to know what happens next. Unlike some books I have read, this book finishes satisfyingly and leaves you knowing everything you want to know and happy to know that the book ends the way it does. I also like the fact that the book is two stories in one. I won't say much more so as not to ruin the plot but what I can say is that it all fits together perfectly and the two stories seem different at first but, as the book progresses, they start slowly weaving together. Things happen when you least expect them too. Things that you never expected happen. And when you think you know pretty well what is going to happen, something completely different happens. This is a brilliant read and I can't reccomend it enough.

Awful Auntie
I am very excited about the upcoming David Walliams book which is releasing on the 25th of September. Not much has been said abouth the story but so far I know this. Aunt Alberta is on a mission to cheat the young Lady Stella Saxby out of her inheritance – Saxby Hall. But with    mischievous and irrepressible Soot, the cockney ghost of a chimney sweep, alongside her Stella is determined to fight back… And sometimes a special friend, however different, is all you need to win  through. I plan to read this as soon as possible.
